What are your writing goals for 2026?

Let’s set some goals and actually achieve them

Today’s Powerful Story Substack has some tips for setting S.M.A.R.T. (Specific, Measurable, Assignable, Realistic, Time-Oriented) goals for the coming year. Take your time. While this is a busy time of year, it’s a great time to reflect on where you’ve been and where you want to go in your writing life. Goal setting requires some contemplation and reflection before you dive in. Success in writing and publishing doesn’t just happen. It requires intention and action. But the good news is, I can help you achieve your writing and publishing goals.

These next few weeks might be busy, and you may not have much time to write. That’s okay. Spend even five minutes, maybe while you sip your morning coffee, to simply look back, without shame or guilt, at what your writing life looked like over the last twelve months. Right now is a perfect time to look back and assess the year that’s ending, and let an honest assessment help guide you toward goals for the coming year.

You can set and achieve your writing goals

This year, I helped five authors go from a draft of their book to a self-published book. Three released their books earlier this year, two more will release their books later this month. I love helping authors, and my goal was to coach five authors. I actually worked with a total of ten writers, but several are still in the writing process. I share the joy they each felt, holding their book in their hands. I celebrated with writers who finally started making progress on their writing goals. Click on the Success Stories tab to see their books and read about how they went from rough draft to published book.
